Letter From the Director

Dear Tulane Students,

It is already summer, but the breeze of fall will soon be upon us. I am looking to a tremendous year ahead. JWST (Jewish Studies) has the pleasure of announcing that two visiting professors have been hired: Moshe Naor, our Schusterman Visiting Professor of Israeli Studies, will be teaching courses on the politics and culture of Israel. Professor Naor has his PhD from Hebrew University. Thanks to a grant from the Foundation for Secular Jewish Culture, Sarina Chen, M.A. Hebrew University, will be teaching Hebrew language and women's studies.

This summer has already been very fruitful for us. We've brought a large collection and receiving other donations of Yiddish books, which are being processed as we speak and will be on the shelves of the Tulane Library before the fall semester begins.

In addition, two of our faculty members have published books this year, Marlina Otte and John Baron. Congratulations to them.

If any student needs help deciding on classes or just to chat about whether Jewish Studies is right for you, please contact me: horowitz@tulane.edu or 504 862 3075.

Sincerely,

Brian Horowitz, Director
